We've heard this word all our lives, kinda like a handshake, it still means something to a lot of us even in this day and age. AW Love's new début CD in this music industry is nothin' less than top notch, I'm telling you. AW has worked ranches all over the Southwest and his music reflects the true feelings a cowboy goes through daily. His most distinctive trait is pure and although West Texas Dreams is AW's first album, we can look for more down the trail.
AW Love didn't have any problems gatherin' some of the finest musicians in the country for this project with the likes of western swing Hall of Famer Jimmy Young on fiddle, Rick Faucett on steel guitar and dobro and Bob Hopkins on piano. Gary Thompson on electric and acoustic guitar, Chuck Alexander and David Fike on bass, Jay Weeks on drums, Ronnie Fleming on mandola and manchella.
Some fine background vocals by Kelli Self, Carlos Casso, Sheryl Lane and Chuck Alexander. West Texas Dreams is produced by Carlos Casso.

The most important ingredient in any band that is going to be successful, is the sidemen or the members of the group and the talent they bring with them. About five years age, a selected few of these sidemen have produced their own compilations using their own material or remaking some of their favorite old standards and making a name for themselves. When I hear a new CD by a sideman, I really get excited and that little nerve in my leg gets to twitchin'. As I was just tearing off the wrapper on Howard Kalish's new CD, "What The Hey" that little nerve had descended down to my foot and I was already toe-tappin' before I heard the first note. I'm telling you folks, I wasn't disappointed and I also know that you won't be either.
Howard sure didn’t just stumble on these great musicians and say “let’s do a CD.” The Pure Texas Band is one of the best in the country today. The Texas legend Don Walser did a super job with his great voice along with the harmony vocals of a friend of mine, Justin Trevino. Rick McRae and Dave Biller on Rhythm Guitar and Scott Walls on the Pedal Steel. Skinny Don Keeling and Lynn Daniel on Bass Guitar and Phillip Fajardo, Ernie Durawa and Timmy Campbell on Drums. Another good friend of mine,” Magic Fingers, Floyd Domino” on Piano. Howard does what he does best on the Fiddle and the five string electric Mandolin. Fifteen tracks on this western swing album with nine showcasing Howard's exceptional songwriting talents. I close my eyes and “ It’s Dark All Over The World”, a Cornell Hurd tune will really jiggle that little nerve. Don Walser does a great job with it as well. What an enlightening change for true honky-tonk music. We hear a new honky-tonk album to find out there's two or three out of twelve tracks that are good honky-tonk dance music, Until Now. Jim has proven his songwriting talent belongs in the Awesome category, along with his great singing voice, combined with some of the finest musicians in the country. I hear some exceptional folks releasing their first album and wonder, where has these artists been all this time. My thoughts of this truly belong to Jim Raby. This CD was well worth the wait. Jim has, over the years, cultivated a style that will go on forever, unmatched. Jim's multi-talented musician - producer, Mike Hillger shows the way on the mandolin, as well as the fiddle. Jim Gerrish on piano and keyboards, Victor Molinar on steel guitar, Ronnie Yandell on the drums and Yadon Hardaway on bass guitar. Jim Raby does the acoustic guitar justice along with Mike Hellger, Zack Casey and Tony Lujan. And on the electric guitar is Jim Hellger, Tony Lujan and Zack Casey. A new voice to the airwaves, Jim Raby has this unique kind of talent that's a real ear catcher, you know, the kind that makes that little nerve in your leg start "twitchin', it'll eventually get down to your foot, next thing you know, your toes are tappin'! Long over due to release his own album, Bobby Flores has definitely made it worth the wait. Being one of the top notch musicians in the Lone Star State, you'll find Bobby on just about every western swing and real country stage. Bobby has showcased about twenty five plus musicians and singers on this new CD "Just For The Record", featuring vocals of four close friends, Richard Wolfe doing a great job on “Bubbles In My Beer”, Justin Trevino on "I Don't Know Why (I Keep Loving You)", Jake Hooker with "One More Time" and my good friend Billy Mata singing "Oh Lonesome Me". If it were ever said that Bobby "hand picked" his musicians for this project, it would for sure be true. The best in the business today, such as Jim Loessberg, Gary Carpenter, Rick Price, Tommy Detamore, Randy Reinhard, Herb Steiner, Dicky Overbey and Jerry Blanton on steel guitar, wow, what a list and it’s only the beginning, Bobby shows us an awesome samplin’ of his musical talent on guitar as well as his trademark fiddle and Jim Loessberg on drums along with Dan Dreeben, Larry Roberson, John “Smilely” Reynolds, Jerrad Green, Phil Dalmolin and our good friend from CD Tex, Bill Green. KNMB, 96.7 - "New Mexico's Bear" and KWMW, 105.1 - Regional Radio "W-105", both 100,000 watt stations in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico covering New Mexico and "Beyond," it is a pleasure and an honor for me to shoot Royal Wade Kimes out to the southwest for all to hear.
Eddy Arnold once said of RWK's, "This ol' boy's got it!" And I'm here to tell you, it's the honest truth. I have had the pleasure of talking with RWK on several occasions and we have become good friends.
I will have the honor of working with RWK at the Tucson Cowboy Music Roundup in Tucson, Arizona in November, 2003. His super western hit song "Night Birds" duet along with his close friend Garth Brooks is really moving the trail in the Lone Star State, Land of Enchantment and soon to be nationwide. RWK's "A dying Breed"
CD is in the “Top Ten” nominations by the Academy of Western Artists and rightfully so. I can vision A Dying Breed becoming Album of the year. I would sincerely like to say a big western thank you, to Jean Lange, Barbara Hayden, Cathy Van Der Linden and everyone else involved with RWK for mixing all the ingredients for great things to come to my good friend, Royal Wade Kimes. I know music, songwriting and talent, RWK has been cultivating his style over the years and that’s what makes him stand above and produce the finest music today. I am very proud of his accomplishments in the music industry and what he has done for western music. It is my pleasure to call Royal Wade Kimes my dear friend.

I know this is going to sound more strange that true but I'm telling you folks, I sincerely had this thought race through my mind several months ago when I was requesting my own a copy of Clay Potter's last album, "A New Man Now". My very first impression of Clay, who works as an electrician in the family owned business ,was "Its A Good Time For A Change!" My meaning for explaining my thoughts are, that the Country music industry had best look out, Here comes Clay Potter. Ten self penned songs and four co-written by Clay reflects his strong desire as a songwriter. From the very start, Clay has cultivated his unique style, not only as a songwriter but an entertainer. It’s simply very good music presented by a man who is well respected as he soars to the top of his craft. It’s extremely hard to pick favorites on this CD, for every song means something special . If I were to attempt this, first I would definitely choose the title cut along with#11, Going Nowhere. Janet McBride and I have been friends for many years. I had seen Janet at the New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum's "Cowboy Days" in Las Cruces, NM shortly after Kacey's first release Movin' On. Janet has always shared her "students" with me and has never stirred me wrong. Kacey Musgraves is by far, no exception. I about had Movin' On, wore out before I got the chance to play it on the air. At that point, I sincerely believed that this was the best it could get, as every song on Movin'On is awesome and would get tremendous airplay, not only from The Backforty Bunkhouse Show, but all western radio stations across the country and overseas.
Then came "Wanted; One Good Cowboy!" This new CD is loaded with Talent. Kacey has cultivated a style that will follow her for the rest of her life. At the age of 14 and accomplishing what she has done to this point in her life has Kacey destined to become a legend in western music not only as an entertainer but a songwriter as well.
